SERBA DINAMIK’S 11 NEW CONTRACTS TO BOOST EARNINGS

INTER-PACIFIC Research Sdn Bhd tweaked its earnings forecast for Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd by 2.6% higher for its calendar year 2021 (CY21) on the premise of stronger topline growth after the group bagged 11 contracts worth RM548.2 million.

The broker maintained its ‘Buy’ call for Serba Dinamik with a higher target price of RM2.48 from RM2.42 previously, derived from an unchanged 12.5 times target price-to-earnings ratio pegged to its diluted CY21 earnings per share estimate of 19.9 sen from 19.4 sen.

“We are tweaking our forecast higher premised on stronger topline growth than previously expected, taking a median approach considering the pandemic impact and vaccine recovery potential on Serba Dinamik’s earnings growth,” it said in a note yesterday.

Serba Dinamik secured eight operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts in Indonesia and an information, communication and technology contract in India. The remaining two local job wins are on a call-out basis with no specific contract value.

Of the O&M contracts awarded, five are power-related contracts awarded by PT Pilar Bahtera Energi, which is estimated to worth RM320 million with a tenure of 15 years each through November 2035.

Inter-Pacific estimated each contract will contribute over RM4 million to the group’s topline per year, with a potential gross margin of around 15%.

“Serba Dinamik also bagged a four-year contract for the implementation of smart solutions for the development of smart city from Captive Technology Solutions Pte Ltd in India, worth RM200 million that may generate a gross margin of 20%,” it said.

On the local jobs, Serba Dinamik was awarded contracts from Petroliam Nasional Bhd and Sarawak Shell Bhd.

The engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract is on a call-out basis from Sarawak Shell for the design, supply, delivery and commissioning of diesel generators worth about RM10 million.

A meeting held earlier this month between the research firm and Serba Dinamik management revealed that the group’s tender book value currently stands at RM20 billion.

“We assume a 40%-win rate, which equates to RM8 billion in new job wins. Factoring in an orderbook burn rate of RM6.5 billion for CY21, this will yield a year-end target of RM20 billion order- book value, an implied 8% on yearly orderbook growth rate,” it added.

Serba Dinamik’s share price closed 1.23% or two sen higher at RM1.64 yesterday, bringing its market value to RM5.56 billion.

Serba Dinamik aims 55% revenue contribution from non-O&G business

SERBA Dinamik Holdings Bhd aims to increase revenue contribution from its non-oil and gas (O&G) segment to 55% in the next couple of years from 24% at the moment.

Group MD and CEO Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah (picture) said the group is also looking to reduce its reliance on O&G-based revenue, which currently represents 76% of its earnings, and prepare the group for other emerging alternative energies that could replace oil.

“Serba Dinamik’s latest projects worth US$114.3 million (RM465.9 million) show our ability to source for business beyond the O&G industry, which has been affected by the slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With those contracts secured, Serba Dinamik’s current orderbook is now lifted to RM18.7 billion,”hetoldTheMalaysianReserve.

The integrated engineering solution provider’s subsidiaries have secured a total of nine contracts, involving six in operations and maintenance (O&M); one in engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC), and two in ICT projects.

Its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Serba Dinamik International Ltd and SDIT International Ltd, and a 75%-owned subsidiary, PT Serba Dinamik Indonesia, secured five overseas contracts in Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Republic of Guinea.

Another subsidiary, Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd, also secured four O&M contracts in Malaysia, with no specific value as the contracts are on a “call-out” basis.

The work orders will be awarded at the discretion of the client based on their activities’ schedules and rates throughout the duration of the respective contracts.

Mohd Abdul Karim said the projects not only strengthen its orderbook, but also allow the group to conclude this financial year ending Dec 31, 2020, with great news and the certainty that it will maintain its financial performance for the year.

“We are aggressively expanding into EPCC jobs in non-O&G projects. Additionally, one of the ICT contracts that we recently secured enables us to set our foothold into the Republic of Guinea.

“Aligned with our future plans, we will also be focusing on expanding our ICT projects by utilising the latest cutting-edge digital technologies as we see a lot of opportunities in this specific industry,” he added.

The duration of the overseas and Malaysian contracts is between September 2020 and November 2023.

Among the overseas contracts is the Indonesia EPCC project, which involves a 4.8MW biogas-based power plant located in Aceh Tamiang within Aceh province, which has started since Sept 1, 2020.

Scheduled for completion by Aug 31, 2021, the client for the project is PT Green Energy Specialist One.

Meanwhile, the Malaysia O&M contracts are from Sarawak Shell Bhd and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration (M) Ltd and BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd.

As part of its commitment; building on the successful handover of the medical items it had donated to Senegal in September 2020, Serba Dinamik has recently sent another consignment of medical items from Malaysia to Guinea via airfreight.

The medical items, valued at an estimated US$ 225,000, comprised of disposable surgical masks, protective face shields, disposable medical gowns and digital infrared thermometers.

ABANG JOHARI LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER VIRTUAL REALITY THEME PARK IN BORNEO

KOTA SAMARAHAN (Oct 12): The first-ever virtual reality theme park in Borneo, known as D-Virtual Park has been officially launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Jalan Meradek here today.

Being a brainchild of Serba Dinamik Group as part of a digital strategy for Sarawak, the group chairman Datuk Abdul Kadier Sahib said the theme park was housing a ‘Creative Studio’ and also Mini Esports Hub D-Arena facilities in collaboration with Sarawak E-Sports Association (SESA).

“This D-Virtual Park supports the chief minister’s agenda in digital economy strategy for the state. It is built with the concept of the best digital technology infrastructure, mainly focusing on the latest development in virtual reality technology, technological innovation and digital entertainment in Borneo,” said Abdul Kadier.

Fast tracked to be completed in the first quarter of this year, the virtual reality theme park is featuring a rotating globe right at front of the building – the first in the country.

Abdul Kadier said Samarahan was chosen as the location for the RM13-million virtual reality theme park, instead the capital city of Kuching, as it was part of a digital economy strategy to develop communities in the rural areas in term of enhancing awareness on the latest technologies available.

Abang Johari (front, second left), flanked by Abdul Kadier (his right) and Abdul Karim, in a photo-call with others in front of the rotating globe at D-Virtual Park before the launching ceremony begins.

During the officiating of the launching ceremony, Abang Johari said he was impressed with the facilities and cutting-edge technologies being offered at the theme park and he hoped such park could be the sparks to encourage the young generation to embrace the latest developments on the technological front.

Abang Johari added that pursuing digital economy was his main agenda since taking over as chief minister from the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem and a list of initiatives had since been implemented to integrate the state economy, that was mainly based on agriculture sector, with digital technologies.

“We have organised a numerous of international digital economy conference as platforms for the state to revolutionised its way of doing business and promote digital economy,” he said, adding experts around the worlds were invited to be on the panel of speakers at these conferences.

Abang Johari stressed the state must seek to tap into bigger markets beyond its borders because the state has only a population of 2.8 million spread across its huge landmass.

Other initiatives introduced by the state government included the setting up of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), introducing the state’s own mobile payments application Sarawak Pay and an allocation of RM1 billion to improve digital infrastructure in the state, such as building telecommunications towers.

Abang Johari experimenting with a virtual ride at the D-Virtual Park during his visit today.

“We use our own funds to upgrade the existing infrastructure in the state because there were delays in sourcing for funds from the federal government at that time and we were hopeful that the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission would provide us with a matching grant later,” said Abang Johari.

He also told that Sarawak Pay had been recognised by Singapore Business Review as being a digital application that was widely used during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Accompanied the chief minister during the visit to the theme park was Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who said the virtual reality park could serve as a latest tourism product to be offered to the people.

“I see this place is located close to the city centre and I believe it has the potential to be inserted into one of our tourism packages to cater for domestic tourists. I was also quite impressed with the offerings at the park,” Abdul Karim added.

Four Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) were signed during the launching ceremony, one between Serba Dinamik Group, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation and Centre of Technical Excellence, another one between Serba Dinamik Group and SESA, one between Serba Dinamik IT Solutions and State Family and Women Department and the last one was between StartUp Borneo Malaysia and Women Rise Malaysia.

Newly crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Sarawakian Francisca Luhong James also made a special virtual appearance for her Women Rise Malaysia movement and congratulated the state on its digital initiatives.

During the launching ceremony, Serba Dinamik also introduced ‘D-Tamu’ as a ‘digital tamu’ marketplace.

Serba Dinamik’s 2Q net profit rises on higher O&M activity in Middle East

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 26): Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd’s net profit came in 13% higher at RM147.88 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2020 (2QFY20), compared with RM130.44 million a year ago, thanks to a higher contribution from its operations and maintenance (O&M) segment.

Earnings per share (EPS) rose accordingly to 4.39 sen from 3.87 sen. On a quarterly basis, net profit rose 11% from RM133.72 million.

Meanwhile, revenue climbed 26% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM1.44 billion versus RM1.14 billion last year. It was also higher than 1Q’s revenue of RM1.28 billion.

The group declared a second interim single-tier dividend of 1.3 sen per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2020 (FY20), which will be paid on Sept 29. Total dividends declared for this year so far amount to 2.5 sen per share.

In a statement yesterday, the group said it posted a higher revenue for 2QFY20 thanks to its O&M segment which contributed 83.2% of total revenue. Revenue for the period rose 25.7% or RM244.3 million from a year ago.

This was supported by increased maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities in the Middle East, namely in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Oman, as well as Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the group’s engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) segment remained its second largest revenue contributor at 10.3%, with revenue derived from various contracts in the UAE, Tanzania, Laos and Malaysia.

Serba Dinamik said its information and communications technology (ICT) segment, which offers customised solutions to the UAE, Qatar and Indonesia, also showed significant growth. For the cumulative six months ended June 30, 2020 (6MFY20), net profit rose 16% to RM281.6 million, compared with RM242.59 million previously, as revenue also increased 28% to RM2.72 billion from RM2.12 billion a year ago.

“We are striving to increase our market share through new contracts as well as existing contracts both domestically and internationally despite the volatile market. On top of that, the group has also provided value-added solutions in O&M contracts by adopting the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) element to help asset owners achieve better performance and productivity of their equipment, such as with the use of artificial intelligence and data analytics pillars,” said Serba Dinamik group managing director Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.

He added that the group had won two new ICT contracts in Zambia, as well as two sizeable contracts to develop a data centre and innovation hub in Abu Dhabi, which will enable the group to tap into institutional and retail bases domestically and internationally.
