KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Serba Dinamik Group Bhd, which provides total engineering and maintenance package solutions for industries, has developed a system which is embedded with artificial intelligence (AI) and mixed reality that could optimise plant turnarounds.
Vice president, special projects, Dr Mohamed Ackiel Mohamed said through the system called ‘Smart Maintenance Embedded With Mixed Reality’, the company could assist any industry in analysing its maintenance system through AI and to reduce unplanned maintenance.
He said the system helped to solve problems more efficiently through a 360-degree view of context-based data.
“This system comes with a very intelligent AI where that particular equipment or components would have the information of the past case studies which is related to the equipment regardless of brand or model.
He said as a result of the system, industries would be able to manage the labour involved and upskill the labour using the system.
“You (industries) are able to manage the spare parts and warehouse as well as monitor the equipment throughout the process and after,” he told Bernama on the sidelines after his presentation at the Beyond Paradigm Summit 2019 organised by Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd here today.
The company, which has international operations, provides its total engineering and maintenance package solutions services to various industries, including power, steel, oil and gas, petrochemicals and related industries.
Ackiel opined that Malaysia was still far behind in plant digitalisation and hoped Serba Dinamik would be the catalyst in that segment.
He said the system, which cost about US$3 million to US$4 million (RM12.4 million to RM16.5 million), had been developed since August last year and the system was now open for sale.
Currently, Serba Dinamik is cooperating with the Malaysia Investment Development Authority to facilitate the industry players in adopting the system for smooth operation.
“There are companies from various industries, including manufacturing, oil and gas, and transportation, which have shown their interest in applying this software. It is now available for sale to those interested,” he said.
The summit today introduced participants to the advanced technologies covering industries such as energy, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, education, telecommunications and transportation.
It showed how these technologies could drive competitiveness through value-added processes such as digitisation, advanced manufacturing and efficient resource utilisation. The two-day event, which began today, was officiated by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and featured the appearance of social humanoid robot, Sophia, developed by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics. — Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR: Having surpassed its end-financial year 2018 (FY18) order book target of RM7.5 billion, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd is aiming to hit a new benchmark of RM10 billion next year, according to group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.
In an interview with The Edge Financial Daily, the 53-year-old, who is an engineer by training, appeared confident the 30% order book increase can be achieved, and is just as optimistic of growing the group’s top and bottom lines by 15% to 20% annually.
“I am targeting for our order book to close up at RM10 billion next year. We are working very hard on a lot of things globally, which we have yet to announce, for our operating and maintenance (O&M) and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) segments,” he said.
He said Serba Dinamik has now surpassed its end-FY18 order book target of RM7.5 billion, given that there are contracts on a call-out basis where values cannot be properly quantified.
“With our [current] order book, I believe we will be kept occupied for another two-and-a-half years. It gives us an assurance that those sales are achievable, which will help with our profitability,” he said.
But despite the visible earnings from its bulging order book, the group is keen to participate in projects where it is also a stakeholder under an asset ownership model as these projects have longer tenure and provide recurring income. Moreover, the group is able to negotiate for the EPCC contracts, as well as the O&M works once the assets are commissioned.
“I still believe that even though it (2019) is [expected to be] a difficult year, we should still be able to make it to the growth that we have mentioned, given our financial strength and resources. We will also be monitoring closely developments in countries we are involved in to mitigate [any risks],” he said.
In addition to its core segments, the group has decided to actively expand its technology business, which currently contributes a little over 1% to group revenue (the remaining contributed by its EPCC and O&M segments).
“We want to make a quantum leap, we want to grow our information technology (IT) capabilities much faster. This is where we do acquisitions, [as] we will get additional network, (an) additional resource pool of people, and a stronger, more convincing track record,” said Mohd Abdul Karim.
Its investment in eNoah iSolution India Pvt Ltd last week is one such example. Last Wednesday, the group’s wholly-owned Serba Dinamik IT Solutions Sdn Bhd (SDIT) bought a 30% stake in eNoah iSolution for RM15 million, besides allocating another RM30 million for future IT projects.
SDIT has around RM50 million worth of projects in hand, and eNoah, approximately US$30 million (RM125 million).
Serba Dinamik made its debut on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market on Feb 8, 2017 at an offer price of RM1.50, and has since been on an uptrend. It reached a high of RM4.23 on Oct 18, 2018 — gaining over 180% — but has slipped in the past weeks to close last Friday at RM3.70.
The group, valued at some RM5.43 billion, provides engineering services and solutions for oil and gas (O&G) production platforms, refineries, as well as plants for petrochemical manufacturing and liquefied natural gas, among others. It also carries out EPCC works on plants, facilities, road infrastructure and buildings, and other related systems and solutions including the design and installation of process control and auxiliary power generation.
“We have only three remaining months of corporate earnings, but I strongly believe that we should be able to achieve our target of 15% to 20% growth in both our top and bottom lines,” he said.
For the nine months ended Sept 30, Serba Dinamik recorded an increase of a fifth in its cumulative net profit and revenue to RM278.61 million and RM2.31 billion respectively.
KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): A tech unit of Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd is acquiring 30% of IT solutions provider eNoah iSolution India Pvt Ltd for RM15 million, as part of the group’s expansion into tech sector, where it has earmarked RM30 million for the execution of existing and upcoming projects next year.
Serba Dinamik’s wholly-owned subsidiary Serba Dinamik IT Solutions Sdn Bhd (SDIT) signed a share purchase agreement with eNoah to acquire 251,152 shares, representing approximately a 30% stake in the latter, for US$3.6 million or RM14.94 million. Both parties also signed a shareholders’ agreement that allows SDIT to regulate affairs of eNoah and their respective rights as the company’s shareholders.
The acquisition will be financed through the RM95 million proceeds from Serba Dinamik’s initial public offering allocated for business expansion, through investment and acquisition.
At the signing ceremony, Serba Dinamik’s group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said while the company’s focus remains very much on providing engineering services, it foresees potential growth for its IT division, which currently contributes a little over 1% to the group’s total revenue.
“Being a substantial shareholder of eNoah enables us to access state-of-the-art technology in the global market,” he said, adding it gives Serba Dinamik a toehold into the Indian market, as well as to further strengthen the company’s market share in the region.
“We see room for improvement in this segment, especially with IT being the catalyst for changing lifestyles in the future.”
Abdul Karim said both parties are collaborating to participate in sizeable projects, including one within the infrastructure sector in Singapore.
The partnership is expected to not only boost some of Serba Dinamik’s existing projects related to systems, applications and products development, and the upgrading of users’ systems in Malaysia, but pave the way for the group to aggressively penetrate into the larger US market.
eNoah iSolution is established in India and currently has a presence in a number of other countries, including the US, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia.
It is principally engaged in providing information technology solutions, business process management and support services, as well as software and information technology products and platforms to clients. Its business process outsourcing (BPO) and IT solutions are offered to Fortune 500 companies worldwide in the integrated health, insurance, manufacturing and automative domains.
Serba Dinamik closed seven sen or 1.9% lower to RM3.68 today, valuing the group at RM5.4 billion.
